About the Role

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a strategic advisor to provide policy advice and coordination support for the implementation and monitoring of the Aboriginal Justice Agreement. This role will work closely with the Aboriginal Justice Policy Reform Unit to develop future iterations of the agreement and other reforms driven by the Aboriginal Justice Caucus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide policy advice and support to the Senior Manager, Strategy, Governance and Coordination.
  • Coordinate policy and work closely with internal business units to contribute to whole of government policy frameworks in Aboriginal Affairs.
  • Support the development of future iterations of the Aboriginal Justice Agreement and other reforms.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal community, both society and culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with the Victorian Aboriginal community.
  • Demonstrated experience in advocacy and delivering policy and legislative reform through community consultation and targeted engagement.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of policy development and implementation.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in law, public policy, Aboriginal affairs or similar.
