This is a leadership role that contributes to the strategic direction of the Koori Justice Unit within the Aboriginal Justice Group. The unit is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement - Burra Lotjpa Dunguludja, in partnership with the Aboriginal community and government.

As the Principal Policy and Project Officer, you will be accountable for overseeing the governance processes and ensuring sound oversight of the RAJAC and LAJAC networks across Victoria. You will also lead the delivery of projects under the AJA, from conception to evaluation, ensuring risks are mitigated and projects are delivered on time and to budget.

To succeed in this role, you will need to have excellent knowledge of Aboriginal culture and society, as well as understanding of historical and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal Victorians. You should also have experience in advocacy and delivering policy reform through community partnerships and targeted engagement.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of public policy development and implementation, including Cabinet processes and government decision-making processes. They will also have demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities and advisory groups, including sophisticated stakeholder engagement.

Key qualifications for this role include a tertiary qualification in law, public policy, Aboriginal affairs or similar. A current Victorian Driver's Licence is also required.
