Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Executive Chef to join our team at Novotel Darwin CBD. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality food for our guests.

About Us

Novotel Darwin CBD is a 140-room hotel located in the heart of the city, overlooking the beautiful Darwin Harbour. Our hotel features a 90-seat restaurant, central atrium gardens with bar, and two conference rooms. We are committed to providing exceptional service to our guests and strive to make their stay with us unforgettable.

Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and cook a variety of dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, room service, functions, and buffet service.
  2. Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment while ensuring high standards of quality and presentation.
  3. Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage by implementing and maintaining effective stock control procedures.
  4. Keep all working areas clean and tidy, and report any equipment issues to the Chef.
  5. Organize and manage your assigned section to ensure efficient and productive operation.
  6. Evaluate and maintain all food produced according to kitchen recipes and standards.
  7. Verify that all food is stored and handled correctly as per current food health and hygiene regulations.
  8. Monitor daily kitchen food and product requirements and inform the supervisor well in advance.
  9. Liaise with the chef on duty as needed.
Requirements

  2. Trade qualifications in culinary arts or related field.
  3. Previous experience in the hotel industry, preferably in a leadership role.
  4. In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse cultures.
  6. Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative in a dynamic environment.
  7. Self-motivated, energetic, and passionate about delivering exceptional results.
  8. Strong time management skills, with ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  9. Demonstrated commitment to personal integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.
