Aboriginal Cultures Therapeutic Case Manager

The role of Therapeutic Case Manager is a highly rewarding and challenging position that requires individuals with strong cultural awareness and therapeutic skills to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children residing in foster care homes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Culturally Informed Support: Provide direct case work for young people supported by the program, taking into account their unique needs and backgrounds.
- Collaboration: Work closely with VACCA's Healing Team to provide comprehensive support to foster carers and ensure the best possible outcomes for the children.
- Mentorship and Training: Share knowledge and expertise with other team members to enhance day-to-day case management tasks and improve overall service delivery.
- Audit Preparation and Leadership: Contribute to the preparation of audits and provide leadership support to the Out-of-Home Care leadership team.
Requirements:
- Vision and Purpose: Be committed to VACCA's vision and purpose, and have a strong understanding of the importance of cultural awareness and sensitivity in working with Aboriginal communities.
- Cultural Awareness: Possess a high level of awareness of key issues impacting Aboriginal communities and be able to demonstrate this in practice.
- Communication and Negotiation Skills: Develop effective communication and negotiation skills to build strong relationships with Aboriginal children, families, carers, and service providers.
- Advocacy: Demonstrate the ability to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal children and families, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
- Experience: Have demonstrated experience in therapeutic case management and coaching/mentoring workers in complex casework and assessments relating to Aboriginal children, families, and carers across the out-of-home care system.
