About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Sentence Management Specialist. This is a critical role that requires a deep understanding of sentence management practices, legislation, and policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-level advice to senior management on sentence management practices, sentence calculation, security classification, placement, sentence administration, capacity utilisation, legislation, policy, and processes.
  • Develop and manage stakeholder relationships, particularly those that relate to prisoner management, lawful detention, and capacity utilisation.
  • Interview and assess prisoners/offenders to inform the development of risk mitigation and compliance strategies.
  • Conduct research and analysis to investigate issues and trends associated with corrections, particularly prisoner management and lawful detention.
Requirements
  • Significant experience in sentence calculation and administration practices, including the interpretation and application of statutory provisions.
  • Ability to provide advice to senior officers to inform the development of risk mitigation and compliance strategies.
  • Experience in developing and managing stakeholder relationships, particularly those that relate to prisoner management, lawful detention, and capacity utilisation.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, supervise, mentor, and encourage others to adhere to legislation and practices relevant to sentence management.
  • Interpersonal skills for negotiating with internal and external stakeholders on sensitive and complex issues.
