The State of Queensland is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sentence Planning Adviser to join our team in the Queensland Corrective Services department. As a key member of our Sentence Management Services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of the community, staff, and prisoners, while also enabling prisoners to access rehabilitation activities and reintegration support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the day-to-day operations of Sentence Management Services, performing sentence management functions in a correctional centre or within a HUB environment.
  • Undertake timely and accurate assessments of prisoners, taking into account their individual needs and circumstances.
  • Develop and implement effective sentence plans that meet the needs of prisoners and support their rehabilitation and reintegration into the community.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues and stakeholders on sentence management and prisoner rehabilitation.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of the criminal justice system and its complexities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and prisoners.
