Job Title: General Manager, Procurement

At News Corp Australia, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced General Manager, Procurement to join our team. This is a key leadership role that will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies that drive value for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives
  • Lead the procurement process from start to finish, including sourcing, tendering, negotiating, and contract management
  • Maximize value for money by ensuring that contracts are structured in a way that optimizes cost and quality
  • Manage risk throughout the life of the contract, including identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks as needed
  • Support internal customers to ensure strong and effective contract management, including monitoring contract performance, managing disputes, and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations
  • Deliver simple, efficient, and cost-effective business processes that enable the procurement team to operate effectively and deliver value to the organization
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, including managing supplier performance and resolving issues as needed
  • Manage and develop a team of procurement professionals, providing coaching, guidance, and support to ensure high performance and continuous improvement
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • At least 10 years of experience in a senior procurement leadership role, with a proven track record of success in managing procurement teams and delivering cost savings
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to negotiate complex contracts with suppliers
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team of procurement professionals
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze procurement data and identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to procurement
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, such as e-procurement platforms and contract management software
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments within the organization and with external stakeholders, such as suppliers and regulatory bodies
