Hobart, Tasmania, Australia beBeeResearch Full time $108,076 - $133,842
Job Opportunity

Are you a research professional with expertise in physical oceanography, climate science, or quantitative marine sciences? We invite applications for a Research Associate position within our Ocean and Cryosphere centre. This role will involve conducting active research to contribute substantially to an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project focused on Eastern Antarctic Polynyas and their impact on global ocean circulation.

  • Key accountabilities include preparing a paper for publication on the seasonal evolution of the surface mixed layer in response to air-sea fluxes and sea-ice growth and decay in East Antarctic polynyas, extending recent analyses within the Prydz Bay region across East Antarctic polynyas to examine regional variability in seasonal DSW formation, delivering research outputs within the project scope, timetable, and budget, and disseminating research results through high-impact journals, national and international meetings, and seminars.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a relevant field, excellent understanding of ocean dynamics and climate role, high-level quantitative skills, ability to conduct original, independent, and innovative research, and excellent written and oral communication skills. A proven record of publishing research in peer-reviewed literature is also desirable. Academic Level A or B candidates are invited to apply.

Benefits

As a successful applicant, you will receive a competitive salary and superannuation package. The total package includes a base salary plus 17% superannuation. You will also be part of a dynamic team working on cutting-edge research projects.
