Research Associate in Oceanography and Climate Change

This position is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-impact research program that delivers precise, policy-relevant insights into the evolving climate system. As part of the prestigious ARC Laureate Fellowship project Precision Climate Tracking, you will investigate changes in ocean salinity and the Earth's water cycle.

The successful candidate will be based at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), a globally recognised centre of excellence in marine and climate science. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, this role offers the opportunity to shape national and global understanding of climate mitigation efforts and support decision-makers with robust scientific evidence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting research on ocean salinity and the Earth's water cycle
  • Collaborating with PhDs, researchers, and programmers to achieve project goals
  • Developing and implementing new methods for analysing ocean observations
Requirements:
  • A PhD or equivalent in physical oceanography or a related field
  • Experience in University post-graduate research supervision
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently
