Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Scientific Researcher to contribute to our ongoing project focused on climate and ocean dynamics in the Southern Ocean and Antarctic regions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting original, independent research with minimal supervision, working collaboratively across disciplines, and delivering research outputs within scope, timeframes, and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute research plans to quantify seasonal evolution of surface mixed layers in response to air-sea fluxes and sea-ice growth and decay in East Antarctic polynyas.
  • Analyze and interpret observational data and numerical simulations to extend recent analyses within the Prydz Bay region across East Antarctic polynyas.
  • Disseminate research results through high-impact peer-reviewed journals, national and international meetings, and seminars.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • PhD in physical oceanography, climate science, or other quantitative marine sciences.
  • Excellent understanding of ocean dynamics and climate role.
  • High-level quantitative skills demonstrated through analysis and interpretation of observational data and/or numerical simulations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across disciplines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for both specialist and general audiences.
Benefits

This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in climate and ocean dynamics. The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and collaborative networks.

The Institute values diversity and inclusion, promoting a culture that is supportive and respectful of all employees. We offer flexible work arrangements and professional development opportunities.
