  • This full-time 4.5-year fixed-term role is based in Hobart, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a high-impact research program.
About the Research Opportunity

As part of the prestigious ARC Laureate Fellowship project Precision Climate Tracking, this position focuses on investigating changes in ocean salinity and the Earth's water cycle - key to understanding the planet's hydrological response to climate change.

The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team working towards precise, policy-relevant insights into the evolving climate system. This role offers the opportunity to shape national and global understanding of climate mitigation efforts and support decision-makers with robust scientific evidence.

Key Requirements
  1. A PhD in physical oceanography or a highly related discipline (e.g. geophysics, ocean biogeochemistry).
  2. A good record of international recognition and contribution to the field of physical oceanography.
  3. Experience in postgraduate research supervision.
  4. A track record of building effective links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession and wider community.
