This role involves investigating changes in ocean salinity and the Earth's water cycle, which is crucial for understanding the planet's hydrological response to climate change.
The successful candidate will contribute to a high-impact research program that delivers precise, policy-relevant insights into the evolving climate system. The focus areas include examining the dynamics of the global ocean conveyor belt and its implications on regional climate patterns.
This position is based at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), a globally recognized centre of excellence in marine and climate science. The team undertakes innovative research projects, collaborating with national and international partners to advance knowledge in physical oceanography and related fields.
To be eligible for this position, candidates should hold a PhD or equivalent in physical oceanography or a highly related discipline. A good record of and continuing commitment to research achieving international recognition and making worthwhile contributions to the field of physical oceanography are essential requirements.
Additionally, experience in university post-graduate research supervision and contributing to building and maintaining effective links locally and nationally with the discipline, profession, and wider community are also necessary.
We offer a supportive environment that fosters collaboration, creativity, and professional growth. The opportunity to work with world-class researchers and contribute to cutting-edge projects makes this role both challenging and rewarding.
