Job Title: Product Specialist

The role of the Product Specialist is a critical one, requiring an individual who can secure competitive rates from ocean carriers and support sales teams in pricing freight forwarding services.

This involves developing and managing carrier and vendor relationships, analyzing market dynamics, and ensuring timely responses to RFQs and tenders, while supporting global ocean freight strategy.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in ocean freight rate procurement, carrier negotiation, or related roles in freight forwarding.

  • Analyzing rate data, market trends, and tender results to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Developing and maintaining carrier and vendor relationships to secure competitive rates.
  • Maintaining data integrity within the rate management system to ensure accurate information is accessible to relevant stakeholders.

The Product Specialist will be responsible for leading negotiations with ocean carriers, securing core and non-core carrier relationships, and monitoring carrier performance to ensure compliance with Minimum Quantity Commitments (MQCs) and agreed terms.

In addition, the role will involve providing regular reports on procurement performance, rate competitiveness, and carrier utilization, as well as communicating effectively with regional and global teams to ensure alignment on procurement goals and strategies.

The successful candidate will have excellent negotiation and relationship-building abilities, strong verbal and written communication skills, and fluency in English and a local language.
