Freight and Logistics Category Manager

This is a highly sought-after role that requires strategic sourcing expertise, preferably in the Freight and Logistics industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing procurement strategies and negotiating contracts with carriers and providers.

The ideal candidate will have strong commercial negotiation skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish a network of influence amongst key stakeholders
  • Build an effective framework for senior management engagement with key providers
  • Develop and maintain the sourcing methodology to be applied in Freight and Logistics using existing frameworks
  • Effectively engage with senior internal stakeholders to transition more Freight and Logistics spend onto contracted carriers
  • Develop network strategies with internal stakeholders for road, rail, sea, and terminal activities
  • Ensure outcomes negotiated are sustainable, provide the required level of service to our customers and business units, and set up the businesses for future success aligning to business objectives
  • Support the Freight and Logistics teams development of improved reporting and analysis tools
Requirements:
  • Strong strategic sourcing experience
  • Demonstrated commercial negotiation success for large and complex contracts
  • Strong supply chain commercial acumen
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
  • Specialised tender management and negotiation skills
