Emergency Medical Call Taker Role

This is a demanding yet rewarding position that requires resilience and a strong ability to think critically under pressure.

  • The successful candidate will be the primary point of contact for the community during emergencies, providing first aid advice and guiding callers through challenging situations.
  • They will be responsible for receiving, recording, and progressing emergency phone calls made to Triple Zero (000) in a fast-paced environment.

No two days will be the same as an Emergency Medical Call Taker, with every shift and call presenting unique challenges and opportunities for growth.

About The Role

In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn about the integral part you play within Emergency Services, including providing first aid advice, being resilient and dynamic while recording information, and being the person on the other end of the line ensuring that the caller is provided with the necessary information and support.

About You

To be successful in this role, you must possess proven persistence and logical thought processes, remaining calm in stressful situations and challenging circumstances. You must also communicate effectively by listening, showing empathy, and adapting your style to the situation.

As an Emergency Medical Call Taker, you will work 12-hour shifts on a 24/7 rotating roster, adhering to set rosters as required by the nominated Control Centre. Temporary reasonable adjustments may be considered in extenuating circumstances on a case-by-case basis with the outcome being at the discretion of the Control Centre.
