
Aquatic Animal Care Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Dive Team Member to be a crucial part of our aquatic displays team.
- Coordinate underwater activities: Manage the efficient transition of divers and ensure adherence to all relevant industry standards.
- Ensure animal health and well-being: Create balanced nutrition plans, maintain logs, conduct daily health checks, and update animal examination records.
- Oversee water quality and hygiene: Make necessary changes based on findings and maintain high levels of cleanliness of diving equipment and areas.
- Lead enrichment and training programs: Craft and manage enrichment plans, establish and execute training plans, conduct training with staff, and create records.
- Participate in media relations: Engage with wider audiences through appearances and conservation messages.
- Manage aquatic species populations: Produce plans, conduct census reports, and oversee acquisitions.
- Supervise display development and renovations: Propose and implement display designs and improvements.
- Collaborate with researchers: Engage in research collaborations.
- Assist the curatorial team as needed.
This role requires a varied hour roster including work on weekends and public holidays with day, evening, and over night shifts where necessary.
Required Skills and Qualifications:Proven experience in aquatic animal care, handling, and husbandry; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; commitment to providing exceptional customer service; knowledge of aquatic animal behavior, welfare, and conservation principles; experience with diving operations and equipment maintenance; certification in first aid and CPR; degree or diploma in a related field such as marine biology, zoology, or aquaculture; valid driver's license.
