
Senior Aquatic Animal Research Specialist

**Job Overview:**
The Research Technician position offers an exciting opportunity to grow a career in aquatic animal research and work with a collaborative, multidisciplinary research team.
As the successful candidate, you will have a sound knowledge of aquatic animal husbandry and the ability to intervene when poor animal health is apparent.
Key responsibilities will include performing laboratory tasks such as bacterial and microbiology culture, operating and maintaining equipment, co-ordinating lab supplies, providing technical advice, and maintaining accurate records.
You will also provide daily animal husbandry, manage fish brood-stock health, reproduction, and welfare, maintain microalgae cultures, and collect, analyze, and store data for incorporation into technical reports.
This role offers the opportunity to work on various projects, including nutrition, physiology, metabolism, breeding, health, and animal production technologies.
**Required Skills and Qualifications:**
- A Bachelor's degree in a science area with a strong component in aquatic animal health, nutrition, reproduction, husbandry, and microbiology.
- Extensive experience in aquatic animal husbandry techniques, water quality testing, RAS, and filtration techniques.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, keep accurate records, and use Excel and Word for data analysis and presentation.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
**Benefits:**
The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary, up to 15.4% superannuation, and a three-year specified term contract.
