Job Title: Animal Care SpecialistJob Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate animal care specialist to join our team. As a general keeper, you will play a critical role in ensuring the welfare of the animals in your care.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Performing daily husbandry tasks, including food preparation, cleaning, and maintenance of animal areas.
  • Liaising with department heads and veterinarians to ensure the highest quality of animal care.
  • Demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills, and maintaining accurate records for the animals in your care.
  • Delivering daily public demonstrations and keeper talks, promoting a positive team culture and Australia Zoo's vision and mission.

Key Requirements:

  • Current Driver's Licence (Manual).
  • Availability to work weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods.
  • Experience in a similar role and long-term commitment to Australia Zoo.

Preferred Criteria:

  • Current Advanced First Aid and CPR Qualifications.
  • Cert III in Captive Animals (or equivalent).
  • Bachelor of Zoology (or equivalent).
