About Remote Census Operations

Census operations managers play a vital role in ensuring the success of census collection activities in regional and remote areas. They are responsible for coordinating and managing field operations, leading small teams, and providing project management support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of field staff.
  • Develop, update, and review work plans for area of responsibility.
  • Connect with community, establish networks, and maintain relationships.
  • Promote participation in census within the community.

Candidates must have a strong understanding of local area knowledge and be able to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples is highly regarded.

Requirements:
  • Sound local area knowledge and ability to read and navigate maps.
  • Proven ability to communicate and develop relationships with people in the workplace and community.
  • Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make decisions.
  • Strong project management skills, particularly in an operational setting.

This role requires excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills. The ideal candidate will have experience working in remote communities and be able to build strong relationships with local stakeholders.

Benefits:
  • $61.50 per hour (inclusive of 25% casual loading), plus superannuation.
