About Our Role

The NSW Quitline Supervisor and Counsellor is a full-time position responsible for overseeing the work of counsellors on shift and providing support to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and guidance to counsellors, ensuring they have the necessary tools and resources to deliver high-quality services.
  • Deliver telephone-based counselling to individuals who smoke or vape, providing supportive advice and referrals as needed.
  • Conduct clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide ongoing support to clients to help them achieve their cessation goals.
  • Support diverse client groups, adapting service delivery to meet their unique needs and circumstances.
  • Evaluate service effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance the overall quality of care.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with team members, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes mutual respect and open communication.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (counselling, social work, or psychology) and at least 3 years of post-clinical experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in mentoring and training, with a proven ability to adapt teaching styles to meet individual learning needs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including proficiency in clinical documentation and client communication.
  • Able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, remaining calm under pressure and delivering high-quality services with confidence and patience.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional standards and ethics.
