Quitline Counsellor Job Summary

This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the lives of individuals who smoke and/or vape. As a Quitline Counsellor, you will deliver cessation-focused telephone counselling services to clients seeking to quit smoking and/or vaping.

About This Role
  • You will assess and develop treatment plans for clients contacting or referred to NSW Quitline
  • Provide evidence-based clinical services, including assessment, treatment planning, and counselling
  • Promote the Quitline service through community engagement activities
Key Responsibilities
  • Work with diverse population groups and backgrounds with varying complex health conditions
  • Deliver high-quality clinical services with confidence and patience in a fast-paced environment
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to individual client needs
Requirements
  • Hold a minimum three-year bachelor's degree qualification in counselling, social work, or psychology, and a minimum of 1-year clinical experience in counselling
  • Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including clinical documentation and client communication
  • Showcase ability to remain calm and execute clinical service delivery with confidence and patience in a high-pressure environment
  • Be willing to work varied shifts, including weekends and outside business hours

Key Qualifications: A strong foundation in counselling principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment are essential for this role.
