About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer to join our team at Griffith University.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the long-term financial viability of the University through revenue generation strategies and prudent management and control of financial resources.

As a key advisor to the Vice-Chancellor and the Chief Operating Officer, the CFO will provide strategic advice on financial, accounting, taxation, procurement, capital and operating budgetary/resource allocation matters.

The CFO will lead the finance and resource management function, providing leadership on business practices that promote continuous improvement and best practice.

The ideal candidate will have a CA or CPA, extensive executive leadership experience, and a proven track record of leading high-performing teams.

They will have highly developed interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, as well as experience in managing planning and budgeting, investments, financial and management accounting, taxation, and systems development.

Knowledge of the issues impacting institutional performance within the University sector is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to ensure the long-term viability of the University
  • Provide strategic advice on financial, accounting, taxation, procurement, capital and operating budgetary/resource allocation matters
  • Lead the finance and resource management function, providing leadership on business practices that promote continuous improvement and best practice
  • Manage planning and budgeting, investments, financial and management accounting, taxation, and systems development
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the Vice-Chancellor, Chief Operating Officer, and senior leadership team

Requirements:

  • CA or CPA qualification
  • Extensive executive leadership experience
  • Proven track record of leading high-performing teams
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Experience in managing planning and budgeting, investments, financial and management accounting, taxation, and systems development
  • Knowledge of the issues impacting institutional performance within the University sector
