This is a career-defining role as a Merchandise Manager at PEOPLE EQUITY, where you will be empowered to own and accelerate the capability and scale of the Private Label offer.

About the Role

As a trusted and experienced leader, you will collaborate with the Category Management team and other Merchandise Managers to identify positional opportunities for Private Label products and sourcing opportunities. You will leverage your eye for trends to ensure that new product opportunities and initiatives are competitively priced, commercially viable, and meet customer needs.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct extensive market reviews to compare competitors' products, identifying opportunities for new designs and product improvements against competitors.
  • Ensure products are delivered on time, meeting agreed standards for design, manufacture, sample approval, and artwork/packaging.
  • Liaise with Category Managers to ensure range reviews, retail catalogues, and online sales events feature relevant private label product representation in line with the Private Label strategy.
  • Cross-functionally integrate the new offer into existing range programs and review, extend, and maximize the offering to drive sales beyond industry benchmarks.

About You

We're looking for a proven leader with solid experience in developing and sourcing products, ideally within a Retailer and/or Supplier/Manufacturer context. You should have a strong understanding of category management principles and depth of knowledge in private label development and sourcing.

  • Proven experience as a Private Label/Product/Development/Category/Sourcing/Merchandise Manager.
  • Strong project management skills, able to manage stakeholders to meet key delivery deadlines.
  • A working appreciation of Australian Standards and relevant product certification requirements in the product development process.
  • An eye for trends, natural enthusiasm for bringing new products to market, and a passion for delighting customers.
  • Commercial acumen, innovative thinking, and assertiveness in identifying emerging trends and maximising opportunities.
