Child and Family Support Specialist

As a Child and Family Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in assisting children and young people to fulfil their potential and achieve what is important to them.
About the RoleAs a valued member of our care team, you'll provide tailored therapeutic interventions aimed at addressing the unique needs of each child or young person we care for to help them overcome trauma and build resilience on their journey to adulthood in Out of Home Care.
- You will meet the child or young persons daily care needs such as personal hygiene, health and well-being, medical, transportation, recreational and educational support needs.
- You will contribute to and maintain a quality care environment for all children and young people that is safe, clean and personalised to those that live there.
- You will document accurately events and developments related to the day-to-day provision of care on the child or young persons journey with us.
- You will ensure children and young people's NDIS plans are accessible for them while in our care.
- You will utilise trauma informed practices and supports in day-to-day care provision for children and young people.
- You will provide positive behaviour support, therapeutic interventions and safety to children and young people who may experience events of escalation and crisis.
- You will encourage and facilitate opportunities for social engagement, recreation, and community involvement.
- You will collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individualised support plans.
- You will advocate for the rights and needs of the children and young people Support young people in developing essential life skills, including education, vocational training, and independent living skills.
- You will promote and support positive relationships and connection for children and young people with family, culture and community.
- You will help children and young people reach developmental and life milestones towards a healthy, happy and thriving life.
About You:
We are looking for care team members who have a demonstrated passion for helping children and young people heal and grow through understanding and support. Experienced in offering support to individuals with disabilities and complex support needs, helping them lead fulfilling lives and promoting their independence.
You'll understand the importance of trauma informed care, consistency and stability in the lives of children and young people. Adapting responses and utilising a broad range of support strategies. Be committed to meticulous documentation and reporting with a deep commitment to the safeguarding of vulnerable children and young people.
You should have availability to suite a rotating roster that includes mornings, afternoons, weekends and overnights.
Estimated Salary: $35-$40 per hour based on SCHADS Award 2.1 – 2.2. We offer competitive hourly rates and salary packaging benefits.
