Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Logistics Operations Manager to join our team at News Corp Australia. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for driving a safety-first culture and ensuring the safe, timely, and sustainable delivery of our publications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contractor Management:
    • Develop and implement contract strategies with GM Logistics and procurement
    • Monitor and assess supplier performance and initiate corrective action
    • Work with contractors to drive operational efficiencies and cost savings
  • Operational:
    • Oversee logistics services in the Northern Region, including Toowoomba operations
    • Manage the team to investigate and respond to queries related to secondary distribution issues
  • People:
    • Embed a safety culture within the Logistics team
    • Assist in driving a customer-centric culture
  • Safety:
    • Drive a culture of safety focusing on leadership, risk management, and governance/assurance
  • Commercial:
    • Work with GM Logistics to ensure expenditure levels are within organizational parameters
    • Support GM Logistics in developing and executing the overall strategy for the region
    • Lead the development and optimization of the logistics network and execution of cost-out initiatives
  • Customer & Stakeholders:
    • Ensure service fulfillment by Logistics suppliers
    • Drive the development of a customer-centric culture and approach to managing suppliers

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in logistics, supply chain, legal, commerce, or significant senior experience in logistics management
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and leading a safety-first culture, including a detailed understanding of Chain of Responsibility and contractor management
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team, with a proven record of effectively driving high-performance cultures
  • Strong knowledge of logistical systems, processes, and best practices, with expertise in optimizing transportation networks and depot operations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve goals and deliver exceptional outcomes
  • Exceptional problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex commercial arrangements and develop supplier management processes
  • Proven ability to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
