We are seeking a highly skilled Counsellor to provide critical support to individuals impacted by trauma.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver crisis and short-term counselling services to clients, both in-person and remotely.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless client support and minimize legal process impacts.
  • Facilitate referrals to essential services, promoting holistic care for our clients.
  • Conduct outreach activities, including visits to remote and regional communities, to enhance access to services.
  • Represent our organization in community education and advocacy initiatives, fostering awareness and understanding of our work.
  • Provide informal debriefing and support to colleagues, promoting a culture of wellbeing and emotional safety within our team.

Our team is dedicated to providing free legal assistance, financial counselling, social support, and specialized cultural support to First Nations people. We take a trauma-informed and culturally safe approach, empowering individuals to make informed choices on their path to healing and justice.

Requirements:
  • A Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or Counselling.
  • Eligibility for membership with PACFA, ACA, or the AASW, having completed a recognized Psychotherapy, Counselling, Psychology, or Social Work degree.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, with a proven track record of delivering effective trauma-informed counselling services.
  • Cultural competency, demonstrated through experience working respectfully and safely with First Nations communities.
  • Strong teamwork and stakeholder engagement skills, with a commitment to collaboration and communication.
  • A dedication to self-care and reflective practice, ensuring ongoing personal and professional growth.
