About The Role

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Emergency Relief Assessor to join our team at The Salvation Army Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct interviews and assessments for emergency relief with community members in accordance with our guidelines.
  • Determine the assistance to be provided in line with our standards of practice.
  • Assist community members to access support services through referral and advocacy to service providers within and external to The Salvation Army.
  • Escalate complex or unresolved matters.
  • Identify risks to community members, staff, and The Salvation Army and bring them to the attention of the relevant Line Manager as soon as possible.

Requirements:

  • Diploma level (preferred) or Certificate IV (minimum) qualification in a related field (Community Services, etc.).
  • Experience working in the community services sector.
  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds would be beneficial.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment (contact centre) would be highly regarded (for Phone Line ER Assessors).
  • A current and valid Working with Children's Check.
