Operational Leadership Opportunity

The Chief of Operations role is a full-time position that offers a competitive remuneration package. The successful candidate will support the achievement of organisational strategy, governance, and operational excellence to scale the Institute's national impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver strategic and operational plans that align with the Institute's mission and priorities.
  • Oversee financial, governance, and compliance systems, ensuring accountability, sustainability, and risk management.
  • Provide operational leadership across the Institute, driving continuous improvement in systems, processes, and resource allocation for efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Build and lead a high-performing workforce by managing, mentoring, and developing staff, strengthening leadership capabilities of team members, and embedding effective people management practices.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with staff, University partners, and external stakeholders, representing the Institute at senior levels.
  • Ensure a safe, compliant work environment by managing workplace health and safety, overseeing risk frameworks, and guiding staff in governance and reporting requirements.
About You
  • Academic and professional qualifications in Management and Finance, with relevant training and experience.
  • Experience in operational and financial management, including budget planning, monitoring, and reporting; ability to establish and improve administrative procedures to support organisational goals.
  • Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop staff, including performance management and creating a positive, high-performing team culture.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; capacity to make sound decisions in complex environments.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills; ability to balance priorities, manage resources, and deliver results within tight timeframes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills; ability to influence stakeholders and convey information clearly in writing and verbally.
