Strategic Leadership Role in Indigenous Education

The Director of First Nations Education is a senior leadership position that provides strategic oversight and advice to support the development and implementation of education initiatives for First Nations communities.

This role partners with regional leaders, schools, and stakeholders to develop and monitor the effectiveness of the EREA Flexible Schools Ltd First Nations Education Framework. The Director will provide expert guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of education programs and services that meet the needs of First Nations students and communities.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and perspectives, as well as experience working in Indigenous education. They will be able to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, build relationships, and navigate complex organizational systems.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement education strategies and initiatives to improve outcomes for First Nations students
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to regional leaders and educators on Indigenous education best practices
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance Indigenous education policy and advocacy
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of education programs and services

Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and perspectives
  • Experience working in Indigenous education, preferably in a leadership or management capacity
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with community members, leaders, and educators
  • Knowledge of education policies and procedures, particularly in relation to Indigenous education
