Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Mara Pirni Healing Place team as a Trainee Family Support Worker. This role is designed for those looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of families and children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular child safety assessments utilizing established risk assessment tools.
- Adopt a strengths-based, child-centered, and family-focused approach to ensure the wellbeing and safety of children and young people.
- Enhance family connections and promote preventative measures to ensure the safety of children, young people, and their parents.
- Collaborate in the creation of comprehensive family plans, employing a wrap-around approach with ongoing evaluation.
- Assist families in understanding child development and foster positive parenting skills.
- Support parents facing challenges that affect their parenting, including mental health, substance use, domestic violence, and socioeconomic issues.
- Facilitate improved communication and problem-solving skills within families.
- Advocate for the needs of children, youth, and families to enhance access to necessary services and resources.
Candidate Profile:
- Currently pursuing or willing to engage in formal studies in Community Services or a related field (minimum Certificate III).
- Alignment with the values of Hope Community Services.
- Strong networking abilities and the capacity to build effective working relationships with community agencies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside strong time management and organizational capabilities.
- Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Additional Information:
Successful candidates will be required to meet specific criteria, including residency status, a satisfactory National Police check, a Working With Children card, a valid driver's license, and a First Aid Certificate.
