We are seeking highly motivated individuals to join our team as Correctional Officers at the Adelaide Remand Centre.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment, providing prisoner safety and support through monitoring and respectful engagement.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that provides best practice prisoner intake, assessment, and induction processes. Your role will involve:

  • Ensuring facility safety and security through dynamic monitoring and compliance protocols
  • Supporting a culturally sensitive environment and respecting diversity
  • Supervising daily prisoner activities and management regimes
  • Participating in prisoner intake, transfer, and discharge processes
  • Being a member of the multi-disciplinary team that provides health, mental health and case management services
  • Responding to incidents with professionalism and adhering to de-escalation procedures
  • Promoting prisoner reintegration into the community and ensuring contact with family, community and cultural supports and legal assistance

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to stay calm under pressure and resolve conflicts effectively
  • An empathetic and respectful approach to working with colleagues, peers and prisoners from diverse backgrounds
  • Physical fitness to meet the demands of the role, including control and restraint training
  • Integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to ethical behaviour
  • A valid driver's licence and the ability to obtain relevant clearances
