Key Selection Criteria- A demonstrated interest in working with young people and an ability to relate to them in a positive and supportive way.
- Demonstrated high level communication skills with a range of individuals and well-developed emotional intelligence.
- Knowledge of education policies and guidelines related to inclusion and the ability to contribute to their implementation.
- Demonstrated proficiency in literacy and numeracy up to VCE standard.
- Experience in education support or completion of Certificate IV in Education Support would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development.
- To support the implementation of a Learning Inclusion program for students with Individual Education Programs who require additional support.
- Specific tasks will include;
- Working in association with the classroom teacher to implement educational programs as outlined by the IEP.
- Assisting students on an individual or small group basis.
- Supporting the implementation of instructional programs.
- Communicating between students and teachers, including interpreting instructions.
- Observing students and bringing their progress to the attention of the teacher when necessary.
- Preparing and submitting notes on student observations, learning and wellbeing.
- Providing basic physical and emotional care for students.
- Participating in the monitoring and evaluation of programs and evaluating individual student achievements.
- Assisting with liaison and communication between parents, teachers and other staff members.
- Preparing basic curriculum resources and materials as required.
- Undertaking administrative tasks and attending meetings as required.
