Job Opportunity: Collection Care and Management Team

We are seeking highly motivated professionals to join our team as APS4 Conservators.

You will be part of a diverse team, reporting to a Senior Conservator in a busy and dynamic environment.

You will work under supervision with conservation and registration colleagues, internal stakeholders, external clients, volunteers, and contractors on a variety of collection matters.

  • Varied tasks include condition assessments, pest control, hazard prevention, and interventive conservation treatments.
  • Preventive conservation programs, preparing objects for display, gallery maintenance, exhibition installs and de-installs, mount assessments, and storage advice.
  • Representing the team at meetings and occasional travel domestically and internationally to support touring exhibitions.

You may participate in public programs, respond to enquiries, and work on collaborative projects within the team.

We require individuals with experience across a range of preservation activities and material types who can embrace a flexible working approach and support the team by working across all conservation areas when required.

You will have an understanding of treatment practices, including ethics, risk management, preventive, and interventive conservation, and be able to work effectively with peers in organising and delivering quality exhibition, collection, and long-term preservation outcomes.

Excellent communication skills, good IT skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with museum colleagues are essential. You will also need to be flexible, adaptable, and outward looking, able to navigate changing demands with professionalism.
