The role of Communications Officer is a dynamic opportunity to join an organisation as a leader in agricultural research, development and extension.

The successful candidate will support the Centre for Crop and Disease Management (CCDM) in building its profile as a leader in the Australian grains industry.

This role is ideal for recent graduates eager to grow their skills in science communication and use traditional and digital media tools and activities to engage stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under supervision, research, write and prepare written communication materials including media releases, blog posts, case studies, reports and website copy for publishing through relevant channels.
  • Assist with logistical requirements for events that target our stakeholders and support brand awareness.
  • Contribute to content creation and management of social media accounts according to our strategy, including X/Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.
  • Support creation of other communications materials including videos, podcasts, tools and resources.
  • Support updates and management of the website through Wordpress.
  • Support reviewing and reporting on communications activities.
  • Support linking media requests with relevant researchers and general communications support to staff and students.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A degree in a relevant discipline such as Agricultural Science/Agribusiness, science communications, public relations, marketing or related subject area.
  • Experience in professional writing, social media and preparation of clear, accurate and timely communication materials.
  • Experience in event coordination, using outstanding organisational skills to set priorities and meet deadlines to deliver an industry outcome.
  • Passion for science and science communication.
