We are seeking an innovative mechanical engineer to join a large-scale, progressive farming enterprise in Western Australia.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Agricultural Systems Design & Optimization: Plan, design, and oversee mechanical systems for crop processing, grain handling, irrigation, and livestock infrastructure. Develop solutions to improve broadacre farming equipment efficiency and contribute to sustainable infrastructure design for horticultural ventures.
  • Project Management & Installation Oversight: Manage assembly, erection, and commissioning of mechanical installations, ensuring compliance with standards. Coordinate project labor, materials, and equipment to meet deadlines, and establish quality control protocols.
  • Workforce & Equipment Efficiency Analysis: Conduct studies and analyze data to optimize labor and machinery performance. Enhance workflow efficiency and develop maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
  • Mechanical Equipment Specification & Development: Design and specify components, machinery modifications, and custom solutions. Collaborate with manufacturers to meet operational needs.
  • Regenerative Farming Integration: Engineer systems aligned with sustainable practices, such as precision agriculture, energy-efficient equipment, and water-saving technologies. Support diversification into horticulture and agroforestry.

The successful candidate will enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and reliability of farming infrastructure, machinery, and processing systems.

This role involves designing, optimizing, and maintaining mechanical systems across diverse agricultural operations, including cropping, livestock, and horticulture.

Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Experience in agricultural design, farming operations, or project management.
  • Proficiency in CAD, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and fabrication.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-engineers.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working autonomously in remote locations.
Desirable Attributes:
  • Experience with agricultural machinery or food processing systems.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy applications in farming.
  • Familiarity with precision agriculture technologies.
