The Regulatory Operations Group is responsible for promoting safer and healthier workplaces within its jurisdiction. To achieve this, the Group uses a contemporary risk-based approach to plan and implement an integrated program of continuous improvement and compliance activities.

WHS Inspectors play a vital role in workplace health and safety by helping employers understand their responsibilities, fostering a cooperative approach with workers, and taking action when non-compliance is found.

The Senior WHS Inspector undertakes a range of regulatory activities, including prevention programs, stakeholder engagement, presentations, inspections, and investigations across various industries and risk factors.

This role requires collaboration with stakeholders, mentoring less experienced inspectors, and working as part of a team to achieve common goals.

Mandatory qualifications include a Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection) or obtaining it within 18 months of engagement.

Eligibility conditions include character clearance, health clearance, and security clearance at Baseline level.

The position requires some intra and interstate travel, including overnight absences, and participation in an after-hours on-call roster as operational necessities dictate.

Regional Operations teams deliver services across the country through employees working in regional offices in QLD, NSW, VIC, TAS, SA, NT, WA, and ACT.
