We are seeking experienced professionals to work with young people involved in the youth justice system. As a Mentor, you will play a crucial role in helping them overcome challenging behaviors and build resilience.

Job Description

The successful candidate will provide direct support to young people aged 10-17, helping them transition from detention to community life. This will involve delivering practical mentoring, group work, and culturally responsive support that promotes wellbeing, independence, and community safety.

  • Establish positive relationships with young people to encourage trust and engagement
  • Provide trauma-informed and culturally safe support tailored to individual needs
  • Assist young people in transitioning to community life, supporting engagement with family, education, employment, and housing

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certificate IV in Youth Work, Youth Justice, Child Youth and Family Intervention, Human Services, or similar
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • Current National Police Check
  • Queensland Driver licence
  • Ability to work flexible hours including after-hours and weekends

  • Critical decision-making skills with the ability to assess risk and respond appropriately
