Job Description

The Assistant Director, Public Engagement oversees the coordination of day-to-day enquiries and feedback from the public through various channels. They provide support to face-to-face staff in managing complex enquiries and work closely with the Director to handle matters related to public engagement enquiry and complaint coordination.

This role offers a chance to lead by example, ensuring our service delivery and public engagement initiatives align with the values and expectations of our stakeholders. The Assistant Director responds to pressure in a positive and calm manner, while committing energy and drive to achieve organisational and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate public engagement activities, including non-legal complaints management.
  • Support face-to-face staff in managing complex enquiries.
  • Work closely with the Director to handle matters related to public engagement enquiry and complaint coordination.
  • Develop innovative solutions to improve public engagement services.
  • Oversee procurement and contract management functions during electoral events.
  • Manage a surge workforce environment.

Additional Requirements for Electoral Events:

  • Ability to manage highly sensitive and complex complaints and requests.
  • Ability to oversee a surge workforce supporting contact centre operations and escalations.
  • Strong reporting and analysis skills for specific reporting and analysis on Public Engagement contact themes.
