Senior Legal Counsel Role

Westgold Resources is shaping the future of gold mining in Western Australia.

We are seeking passionate and dedicated professionals to join our team who share our vision of building a sustainable and profitable major Australian gold business. The Senior Legal Counsel will play a key role as trusted legal advisor to all areas of the Westgold business, including commercial & supply, finance, projects, operations, exploration, native title, human resources, company secretarial, and management.

About the Opportunity:

The Senior Legal Counsel will advise on legal and regulatory matters for the business, mitigating risk and protecting Westgold's interests. They will negotiate and draft a wide range of commercial contracts, including procurement (goods and services), project, mining services, toll treating, banking facility, and confidentiality agreements. The Senior Legal Counsel will provide strategic legal advice on commercial, contractual, and corporations law matters. They will collaborate with senior management and advise on high-impact projects and operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal counsel to the business on various matters
  • Negotiate and draft commercial contracts
  • Offer strategic legal advice on commercial, contractual, and corporations law matters
  • Collaborate with senior management and advise on high-impact projects and operations
Qualifications and Key Skills:
  • 5 – 12 years of post-admission experience with a background in the mining, resources, construction, or engineering sector
  • Bachelor's degree in law, admission to the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory with a current legal practising certificate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and convey complex concepts to people with non-legal backgrounds
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to influence and educate across all levels of the business
