About the Role

As a Senior Legal Advisor, you will support the operational risk management activities associated with implementing Prudential Standard CPS 230.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations and manage legal risks.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and legal documents for material service providers and outsourcing arrangements.
  • Advise on internal governance frameworks, risk policies, and procedures to align with CPS 230 requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure legal alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Manage external legal engagements to ensure cost-effective and high-quality legal support.
  • Promote a strong risk culture, focusing on legal and reputational risk management.

Our team works collaboratively across Australia, with office locations in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth. We are open to considering candidates from other locations across the country.

Requirements:

  • Hold tertiary qualifications in law and a current unrestricted practising certificate as an Australian Legal Practitioner.
  • Have extensive post-admission experience working in superannuation or financial services, preferably with a law firm or financial services provider.
  • Be knowledgeable about Commonwealth and State legislation related to financial services, particularly superannuation, advice, and life insurance.
  • Exhibit exceptional negotiation, drafting, influencing, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels.
  • Have experience advising and working with business teams to deliver time-sensitive and critical projects.
  • Be able to provide professional, concise advice and solutions to technical, legislative, and strategic issues.
