About the Role

The Head of Compliance ANZ is responsible for implementing, managing, and overseeing the Australia and New Zealand businesses to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and Assurant's Corporate Compliance programs.

  • Work with the Head of Compliance APAC to manage effective relationships with regulators such as APRA, ASIC, RBNZ, FMA, and ACCC
  • Manage effective relationships with industry bodies such as the ICA and manage effective relationships with institutions such as AFCA and IFSO
  • Manage the VSC ANZ Branch's compliance program and provide adequate oversight of the implementation of compliance processes and protocols
  • Provide assistance to senior management and other key stakeholders as required in relation to compliance matters
  • Provide input into strategy, the business plan, the budget, and financial condition report to ensure material decision-making is compliance-based
  • Develop the ANZ Branch Compliance Manual(s) and ensure it's updated to meet regulatory and licence conditions changes
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a 2nd line ANZ Assurance plan covering all business lines
  • Ensure local adoption and oversight of the Assurant Corporate Compliance program, including trade sanctions and anti-bribery and corruption protocols
  • Engage with Corporate Compliance on the implementation of trade compliance controls for the ANZ market
  • Perform due diligence and ongoing oversight for vendors, buyers, and aggregators connected with the ANZ business
  • Manage the internal and dispute resolution process for ANZ
  • Monitor the business' compliance culture and assist senior management in implementing the business' compliance policy, protocols, and relevant professional bodies, regulatory bodies, and legislative standards
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in business, finance, commerce, or a relevant discipline
  • 7+ years' experience in a Compliance Officer or Manager role or other comparable experienced professional
  • Experience within a niche or composite insurance company, bank, or professional services firm
  • Membership of a professional body such as the GRC Institute for compliance professionals
  • At least 7 years' experience with APRA and ASIC frameworks
  • Previous experience at a management level in a Financial/Insurance or Professional Services organization
  • Australian and Asian Pacific insurance, retail, and consumer markets
  • Ideally creditor, warranty, and additional insurance financial or operational experience
  • Strong technical expertise, interpersonal skills, and credibility at a senior level
