Compliance and Legal Expertise

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Officer & Legal Counsel to oversee both compliance and legal aspects of our operations in Australia and New Zealand. This role involves ensuring our company adheres to local regulatory requirements, particularly anti-money laundering (AML), combating the financing of terrorism (CTF), and other key financial regulations. As Legal Counsel, you will provide expert guidance on corporate, contractual, and regulatory matters, ensuring our adherence to legal best practices while mitigating legal and financial risks.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable financial services laws and regulations in Australia and New Zealand, focusing on the fintech and payments sectors.
  • Oversee the implementation and monitoring of AML and CTF systems and controls in both New Zealand and Australia, guaranteeing compliance with local regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, update, and maintain internal policies and procedures that align with AML/CTF regulations in both jurisdictions, ensuring they remain effective and relevant.
  • Ensure the compliance program stays current with regulatory changes and adapts as needed for new products and services.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for acquirers, financial partners, and regulatory bodies in both New Zealand and Australia, ensuring compliance with local requirements.
  • Regularly monitor compliance and report findings to our Group Corporate Compliance team, assist in elaborating, further implementing, and supervising remediation activities.
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • A qualified lawyer in Australia, preferably with experience in fintech or financial industry companies.
  • A qualified lawyer in New Zealand is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Experienced as a Compliance Officer & Legal Counsel, preferably from a fintech or financial industry company, acquirer, bank, etc.
  • At least 3 years' experience in compliance and Legal Counsel roles.
  • Experience in developing and administering internal controls and processes.
