Job Title

Senior Health and Safety Officer

The Senior Health and Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining a robust health and safety management system that aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of health and safety principles, regulations, and best practices. They will be able to provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters, including risk assessments, hazard identification, and control measures.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Provide training and awareness sessions for employees on health and safety matters.
  • Investigate incidents and near-miss events to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks associated with work activities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of health and safety data and metrics.

This role requires a high degree of autonomy, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., occupational health and safety, engineering, or science).
  • Relevant work experience in a health and safety role (minimum 5 years).
  • Formal qualifications in health and safety (e.g., OHS Certification or equivalent).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
