About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Billing Coordinator to join our team at Slater and Gordon Lawyers. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all billing requests, ensuring exceptional client care and compliance with our billing policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with legal practices and external stakeholders.
  • Accurately draft and process all billing requests nationally, adhering to our billing policy and procedures.
  • Respond to billing enquiries and resolve any issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Identify and request credit notes where necessary, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation of disbursements.
  • Correspond with third parties to obtain outstanding items for billing, escalating non-responsiveness as required.
  • Draft written correspondence to internal and external clients, ensuring clear and concise communication.
  • Negotiate and settle cost claims in collaboration with legal teams, obtaining relevant approvals as necessary.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of our systems and processes to accurately manage the post-settlement process.
  • Proactively approach the post-settlement billing process, focused on minimizing delays and ensuring data integrity.
  • Consistently update debtor status, notes, and tasks with a high level of accuracy, maintaining data integrity and compliance with accounting practices.
  • Adhere to systems, processes, and procedures with a high level of compliance for all settled matters.
  • Actively contribute to the enhancement of processes and procedures by providing suggestions for improvement.
  • Meet business Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring exceptional client care and financial accuracy.
Requirements
  • Experience in working within a finance or accounting role, preferably in a legal or professional services environment.
  • Certificate in accounting or finance (advantageous).
  • Ability to analyze scenarios and draw suitable conclusions, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience in addressing complex problems and building successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to take initiative and work to deadlines.
