Job Role

The Manager, Federal Government Collaboration will lead our engagement with government departments, including the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry and the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.

This role ensures that our scientific and evidence-based impacts are well understood by government and inform decision-making.

Main Responsibilities
  • We will proactively lead our engagement and collaboration with key federal government departments.
  • Our portfolio tasks, including ministerial briefs and responses to parliamentary questions, will be coordinated effectively.
  • We will support our input to cabinet processes and develop policy proposals for consideration through the federal budget process cycle.
  • Strong relationships across the organisation will be built to ensure effective engagement strategies.
  • Work with Communications to promote our science and manage emerging issues related to government priorities.
Key Requirements
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (science-based) and/or leadership/management experience in the public sector or similar field is required.
  • A strong understanding of Australia's federal government environment and public policy development is essential.
  • People leadership experience, with ability to attract, retain, empower, and develop talent, is necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to present complex ideas concisely, are required.
  • Eligibility for Australian Government Security Vetting Agency security clearance (Negative Vetting 1) is a must.
