Key Role

Senior Program Officer, Aboriginal Practice Leadership.

Job Overview

Lead culturally safe interventions for Aboriginal young people in community and custody settings. Foster a best-practice approach, promoting positive outcomes and addressing challenges.

Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement priority projects, ensuring alignment with high-level Government strategies and organisational priorities.

Build staff capability and strengthen cultural practice through training, statewide engagement and collaboration.

Negotiate outcomes, communicate and collaborate regularly with regions, community organisations and other key stakeholders.

Lead progress and report on the status of priority projects led by the Aboriginal Practice Leadership Team.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal community, culture and related issues.
  • Ability to communicate sensitively and work effectively with the Victorian Aboriginal community.
  • Experience in designing and developing complex programs and services for vulnerable cohorts.
  • Understanding of the Youth Justice system in Victoria.

A Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required prior to commencement and must be maintained during employment.
