About the Role

The University of Wollongong is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Faculty Careers Specialist to join our Careers & Employability team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in developing and delivering career development learning (CDL) and employability initiatives, services, and resources in curricular and co-curricular settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement CDL content and assessment for delivery within the curriculum.
  • Deliver career-related information to individuals and groups in various formats, including workshops, tutorials, one-to-one consultations, and online sessions.
  • Provide specialised advice and support services to students to enable them to thrive in the higher education context.
  • Work strategically with a wide variety of stakeholders, including developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships, to ensure the successful achievement of organisational objectives.
  • Apply career development theories, concepts, research, and associated models and frameworks to practice.
  • SOURCE, critically evaluate, and apply credible, reliable labour market information, and use this information to inform career education and assist students.
  • Conduct career development work in ethical and culturally sensitive ways that recognise and respect diversity.
  • Provide career services to individuals, including conducting needs assessments and following case and/or project management procedures.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with stakeholders.
  • High-level organisational, time, and project management skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and execute new initiatives with the demonstrated ability to think creatively and innovate.
Requirements
  • A postgraduate qualification in career development required to meet the requirements of the Professional Standards for Australian Career Development Practitioners.
  • Possess a track record in the design and implementation of CDL content and assessment for delivery within the curriculum.
  • Possess a track record of delivering career-related information to individuals and groups in various formats.
  • Experience in the delivery of specialised advice and support services to students.
  • Experience in working strategically with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply career development theories, concepts, research, and associated models and frameworks to practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to source, critically evaluate, and apply credible, reliable labour market information.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct career development work in ethical and culturally sensitive ways.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide career services to individuals.
  • A well-developed understanding of curriculum design and learning and teaching practices.
  • Familiarity with online educational platforms.
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
