Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing surfaces by removing old paint, filling holes, and washing walls.
  • Applying primer, undercoats, and finishing coats using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean work environment, including cleaning tools and equipment.
  • Assisting in the selection and ordering of painting materials.
  • Working safely with ladders, scaffolding, and other equipment.
  • Learning advanced painting techniques, including decorative finishes and textures.

Once you have completed your apprenticeship, you will be a trade-qualified painter and decorator. This qualification can provide a pathway to owning your own business in the industry or moving into roles such as: Specialist Painter, Colour Consultant, Estimator, or Site Supervisor.
