As a Welfare Programs Facilitator within the Welfare & Engagement team, you will be instrumental in promoting the wellbeing and emotional resilience of individuals in immigration detention. Your role will involve designing and implementing a variety of educational and recreational initiatives aimed at enhancing the mental health and engagement of detainees. Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute positively by nurturing an environment characterized by inclusivity and respect.

In your capacity as a Welfare Programs Facilitator, you will:

  • Oversee and execute both structured and unstructured activities, including educational, athletic, and leisure programs
  • Ensure that activities are meaningful, inclusive, and responsive to the diverse needs of detainees
  • Work alongside detainees to create innovative programs that foster their wellbeing
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all activities and assess outcomes
  • Facilitate access to recreational resources, library services, and computer facilities

To excel in this position, you should possess:

  • A minimum of two years' experience in managing structured programs or activities for adults or families
  • Experience engaging with individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • The ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • A commitment to enhancing the wellbeing of individuals in detention
