About the Role

The Activities Officer will play a crucial role in enhancing the wellbeing and emotional resilience of individuals in immigration detention. This position requires a highly organized and communicative individual who can develop and deliver a range of educational and recreational programs designed to support the mental health and engagement of detainees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver structured and unstructured activities, including educational, sporting, and leisure programs
  • Ensure activities are meaningful, inclusive, and cater to the diverse needs of detainees
  • Collaborate with detainees to develop innovative programs that support their wellbeing
  • Maintain accurate records of all activities and report outcomes
  • Provide access to recreational resources, library services, and computer facilities

Requirements

  • At least two years' experience managing structured programs or activities for adults or families
  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Strong organisational, time management, and communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and its applications
  • A commitment to promoting the wellbeing of people in detention
